CTYARD GOATS is an urban micro-farm proving you don't need 40 acres to raise healthy, hilarious, high-producing dairy goats. Nigerian Dwarfs, Pygmy companions, raw-milk chevre, goat yoga and hands-on homestead school — all from a transformed city courtyard.
★ ADGA tested ★ G6S Normal ★ CAE/CL/Johnes negative ★ Ethical disbudding & dam-raised
CTYARDGOATS.COM started in 2016 with two rescue Pygmies, a second-hand shed and a very confused HOA. Today our 0.3-acre courtyard in the city is a rotational-browse laboratory: vertical hay racks, living willow fences, rainwater fodder, deep-litter compost and 38 very spoiled goats.
We specialize in courtyard-adapted dairy goats — compact Nigerian Dwarfs selected for calm temperament, high butterfat, easy hand-milking and neighbor-friendly voices. No smell, no noise complaints, just milk, mulch and joy.

Goats first, product second. Every doe gets a name, a best friend, a climbing platform and retirement — never freezer camp. Happy goats make sweet milk. That's the whole business plan.

38 goats • 14 milking does • 6 herd sires • 120+ kids placed in pet & homestead homes • 4 livestock guardian dogs • 2000 lbs compost / year.
We don't do 20 breeds. We do 3 perfectly: high-fat Nigerian Dwarfs for milk, Pygmies for companionship & brush control, and our signature Ctyard Mini — a calm, quiet cross for first-time owners.

45-75 lbs, 1.5-2.5 qt/day, 6-10% fat. Blue eyes, moonspots, championship lines. ADGA registerable. From $450.

Stocky comedians, wethers $175 pair-only. Leash-trained, de-wormed, disbudded. Best lawnmowers that cuddle.

Our 5th-gen courtyard cross: quieter voice, smaller pellets, stands for hoof trim. Ideal for suburbs & schools. Waitlist open.

Three-tier paddocks rotate every 3 days. Willow hurdles, cattle-panel arches with grapes, lofted hay barn, deep-litter winter shelter that composts in place. Rain catchment 2500 gal + fodder wall (barley sprouts in 7 days) cuts feed 30%.

Free-choice orchard hay, alfalfa pellets for milkers, loose minerals, baking soda, copper bolus 2x/year. FAMACHA + fecals, not calendar worming. All breeding stock tested CAE/CL/Johnes annually.
We are a herd-share micro-dairy: you own a share of Biscuit & friends, we do the milking, chilling, culturing. Milk tested monthly, chilled to 38°F in 20 min, chevre cultured overnight with French Geotrichum.

Read story →Bucks in rut do — that's why we keep bucks off-site except 6 weeks in fall, and use AI + driveway breeding. Does and wethers smell like sweet hay when bedded on deep litter + PDZ. We give neighbors free chevre twice a year. Zero complaints since 2018.
Minimum 400 sq ft dry lot + 64 sq ft shelter + daily browse or hay. Our Ctyard plan fits 2 minis in a 20x20 courtyard with vertical enrichment. Take our class before buying — we discount $50 if you do.
Many find it so: smaller fat globules, A2 protein, no agglutinin. Our milk is 6-8% fat, chilled fast, tastes like melted ice cream, not “goaty”. Herd-share members get lab results monthly.
Cheese is pickup only (we're too small to ship). Weaned kids can go via licensed ground transport in-state; we never ship cargo. Better: come meet, pick your kid, take our starter kit.
